What is the Non-Lucrative Residence Visa in Spain?
The non-lucrative residence visa is a residence authorization for non-EU citizens who want to settle in Spain without engaging in employment or professional activities. It grants legal residence in Spain for one year, with the possibility of renewal, provided that all legal requirements continue to be met.
Who can apply for the Non-Lucrative Visa?
This residence permit is suitable for applicants who:

- Do not intend to work in Spain

Where must the application be submitted?
The initial application must be submitted from abroad, before traveling to Spain, at the Spanish Consulate with jurisdiction over the applicant's place of residence. It is not possible to apply for the non-lucrative residence visa from within Spain for the first time.
Once the visa has been granted and the applicant is legally residing in Spain, renewals can be processed in Spain, as long as the requirements remain fulfilled.
Financial Requirements for the Non-Lucrative Visa
One of the key requirements is proving sufficient financial means to live in Spain without working. For the first year of residence, the applicant must demonstrate 400% of the annual IPREM for the main applicant, plus 100% of the IPREM for each dependent family member.
Financial solvency can be demonstrated through:
